- ARMOY, Co Antrim: Northern Ireland: Yummy mummy breastfeeding group in Armoy co Antrim - meetings once a fortnight every Tuesday from 10.30 until 12.00 with crèche facilities provided for older siblings. - ASHFORD, Kent: Breastfeeding support group meets Wednesdays 1pm -2.30pm at the NCH Playlink centre Ray Allen Centre, S.Ashford. For details please ring Philippa on 01233 501069 or the centre on 643103. It doesn't always run in the school holidays so it is a good idea to check. There is a breastfeeding counsellor there to help with any problems.
- ASHFORD, Kent: Monday Mums, held every Monday 10am - 12 noon, run by SureStart midwife Nina Sinclair and Breastmates and held at the Willow Centre, Brookfield Road, Ashford, Kent. Breastmates are a group of mums who have undergone breastfeeding supporter training and there are always two each Monday there to support breastfeeding mums. We don't specifically say we are a support group, as there are support groups in Cardiff that Mums can no longer attend once a problem is resolved; we encourage Mums to return as a social afternoon

BETHESDA, Gwynedd:
Bethesda Baby Club runs every Thursday from 11am to 1pm in the Health Clinic, High Street, Bethesda, Gwynedd.
North West Wales Breastfeeding Clinic at Bethesda - individual appointments can be booked with a lactation consultant, 9am to 2.30pm every Wednesday.

BIRSTALL, W. Yorks:
Breastfeeding support group meets first Thursday of each month from 9:30am to 12 noon. The group is run by peer counsellors and a La Leche League leader is available if needed. For more details, contact Helen on 07979 813239.
BISHOP AUCKLAND, Co. Durham:

BLACKPOOL, Lancs:
La Leche League meet every friday 10am - 12 noon (except school holidays) at Whitegate Family Centre, Whitegate Drive, Blackpool for an informal coffee morning with library and refreshments - trained breastfeeding counsellor always available.

BLANDFORD FORUM, Dorset:
Breastfeeding support group meets each Friday from 10:30 am to 12 noon. The group is run by a breastfeeding counsellor and is supported by local midwives and health visitors. Support is also given by the Bosom Buddy network, local mothers who have successfully breastfed one or more children and have completed a course in breastfeeding support.
The group offers breast pump hire, a bra fitting service, breastfeeding pillows, baby slings and other equipment to hire/buy as well as having a comprehensive library of books and videos for loan. For more details, contact Vicky on 01258 455668.
BOGNOR, E. Sussex:
"Breastfeeding Reassurance and Awareness Clinics" are held on Thursdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm in Bognor Health Centre. For more details, contact Clare on 01243 788122.
Breast Friends, our local mother-to-mother breastfeeding support network, "recruits", trains and supports peer supporters, who will then offer support to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers via the phone, home visits or hospital visits, at ante- and post-natal classes and breastfeeding support groups.

Breastfeeding support group runs every Wednesday lunchtime, 1.30pm -3pm at the Surestart base, 27 Norfolk Street, Boston Tel 01025 319899. Parents to be are made welcome as well as any one who is breastfeeding a baby or child. Tea and coffee available, plus older siblings welcome too.

BRIDGWATER, Somerset:
We have a new venue - The Bridgwater Community Church Hall, which is in Eastover, next to Oxfam. It is a bright and cheerful room, with lots of toys for toddlers. It is easy to find and we hope that it is more 'user' friendly for first time visitors. Although we will obviously offer help and support to any mothers who are having problems with breastfeeding, we are essentially a social club, existing to give newly breastfeeding mums a social life, a chance to chat and to get out of the house. We have regular get-togethers at the Community Hall as well as other outings planned. We usually meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday in the month from 10am to 12 noon.

BRISTOL: Brentry.
Breastmates - Breastfeeding Support Group every Wednesday 11:30 - 1pm at the Brentry and Henbury Children's Centre, Brentry Lane, Brentry, Bristol. BS10 6RG. 0117 959 3800/3900. It is supported by La Leche League Peer Supporters and health visitors when their timetable allows them. We have had outside speakers in regarding infant 1st aid, real nappies and extended breastfeeding. We are here for anyone who is thinking of breastfeeding, actually breastfeeding or supporting someone to breastfeed. Mums and Dads welcome. This is a walk-in group.

CAMBORNE, Cornwall.
A breastfeeding mother should be able to access skilled and knowledgeable breastfeeding support every day of the week. Breastfriends is a breastfeeding support group based at Sure Start Trevu, Trevu Road, Camborne and welcomes all local breastfeeding mums. The group was set up in Sept 2001 by Nursery Nurses Andrea Hewitt and Sam Moyle and now together with their 15 trained peer supporters they help and support a large group of mums. The group is held over a lunchtime period on Wednesdays from 11.30am - 1.30pm where they provide mums with a free lunch, tea and coffee. It is held in the main hall where there are comfy sofas, coffee tables, babies mats and toys, there is also a crèche available for accompanying toddlers. All pregnant or breastfeeding mums are welcome to drop in at any time during this period. We also run Breastfriends Plus which is a support group for mothers breastfeeding older babies or toddlers, this is held on a Friday 10am -12 noon with free tea, coffee and biscuits. We also provide good breastfeeding resources such as books and videos and provide Avent Breast pumps and Bravado Bras at a reduced price. Sally Pyner (peer support mum) sells Lollipop Washable Nappies. We produced our own breastfeeding calendar last year as part of National Breastfeeding Week and have our own website http://www.breastfriends-cornwall.co.uk/. Contact Andrea and Sam on 01209 611766.

CHELTENHAM, Gloucs:
BAPS (breastfeeding and peer support) support group is part of the Gloucestershire Breastfeeding Supporters Network and meets every Tuesday from 10am to 12 noon at Hesters Way Children's Centre, Dill Avenue (next to HW primary school) Cheltenham (plenty of free parking around the back). The Healthy Living Centre is easily reached by bus and is opposite the new GLOSCAT. The group is open to all mums with any age of baby. About 20 mothers meet each week. The group is run by 9 peer supporters with an NCT breastfeeding counsellor present each week. Drinks are provided. The Doorstep Cafe downstairs does bacon sandwiches from 9.30! Breastfeeding drop-in meets every Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm in the Abbey Wing, St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey. This drop in is only for mothers who are having breastfeeding difficulties, and an NCT counsellor or lactation consultant is usually available. Contact 01932 722678 for more details.

CROYDON. South London:
Breastfeeding "drop-in" clinic every Friday morning 10am - 12noon at Mayday Hospital, Croydon. Run by the Breastfeeding Specialist midwife with an NCT or LLL breastfeeding counsellor present and often a health visitor as well. This clinic is open to any breastfeeding/expectant mum with problems or needing information about breastfeeding, but is not a support group as such. Downend clinic has now got a group of peer supporters called Feeding Friends and they hold an informal drop in group every monday morning from 10-12, they also have a telephone contact service. Open to all breastfeeding mums (and bumps).

GLOUCESTER, Gloucs:
BIBS (Breast Is Best) breastfeeding support group is part of the Gloucestershire Breastfeeding Supporters Network and has moved to a new, bigger venue at the Trust Centre, Conduit Street every Wed 12-2pm. Bring sandwiches. Drinks provided. Sure Start provide a creche worker who helps to look after toddlers at each session - we are in a very large creche room. 18 peer supporters run the group supported by a NCT breastfeeding counsellor at each session and there are about 20 - 30 mothers each week. Gloucestershire Breastfeeding Supporters Network groups are run by peer supporters for the local mothers. We offer bra fittings (MAVA bras and Bravado bras at cost price!), borrow a sling, borrow books and videos, hire an electric breastpump. An experienced breastfeeding counsellor will be present at each session in case a mother needs help with a breastfeeding problem. If you would like to know more about the groups or would like to learn more about what is involved in becoming a peer supporter please ring Elizabeth (01452 813425, evenings are best). GLOUCESTER, Gloucs:
Breastfeeding Drop In (for breastfeeding problems) at Stroud Maternity Hospital, Stroud, Gloucestershire on Monday mornings 10am to 12 noon and Thursday afternoons 1.30 to 3.30. The drop in is staffed by a midwife with special training in breastfeeding and an NCT volunteer breastfeeding counsellor. Mothers can self refer and any aged baby and his/her mother is welcome.
GORLESTON, Norfolk:
Breastfeeding advice and support is available on a Wednesday 12-2pm at the Seagulls Centre, Magdalen Way, Gorleston tel 01493 660090. Baby buddies are available to offer advice and support around breastfeeding in either the ante natal or post natal period. PENZANCE, Cornwall:
Penwith District breastfeeding mums group has been running since September 2002. It is based in the Sure Start Lescudjack Centre, Penmere Close, Penzance and is open to all breastfeeding mums in Penwith District. We meet on Thursday afternoons in the Community cafe from 2-3.30pm. Our overall objective is to encourage women to breastfeed in a normal social setting ie the cafe although there is a private room available should it be required. Also to provide both peer and professional support for women so that they are able to continue breastfeeding for longer. The group was intiated by Barbara Eunson Sure Start Midwife and Debbie Buzza Community Midwife but much of the advice and support is given by the mums themselves. In the new year(2004) we are hoping to set up a training programme for peer supporters.
