Images of Breastfeeding in Western Culture
Kate Evans is an award-winning cartoonist and author of "The Food of Love: your formula for successful breastfeeding". This year she was one of the speakers at the ABM conference in London.
During her talk she discussed images of breastfeeding from modern society and art history. She did it by exploring paintings, contemporary pictures of celebrities and sketches from her own book. The aim of her talk was to explore how breastfeeding and motherhood makes us feel about our bodies and how this is reflected in the images of the times.
In order to support her talk, Kate showed a number of breastfeeding images that ranged from 15th century paintings to 21st century magazine photographs of celebrities.

To read more about Kate Evans' talk you will have to wait for the next issue of the ABM magazine. There will also be reports of all the other talks and events in our June conference. Remember that you receive our magazine as part of your membership.
